How to check and manage your eSIM data

There are two ways to see how much travel data you have left: your provider’s usage meter (the most accurate — it counts against your actual plan) and your phone’s own counter in settings. Knowing where you stand takes ten seconds and stops the nasty surprise of running dry on your last day.

Check with your provider (most accurate)

A good travel-eSIM provider shows a live usage meter — remaining data and days — in your account. This is the number that matters, because it reflects your real plan balance rather than an estimate. On The eSIM Company, your remaining data and validity are shown against each plan in your account.

Check in your phone settings

• iPhone: Settings → Cellular/Mobile → scroll to the travel eSIM to see its usage. Tip: tap Reset Statistics when the plan starts so the counter tracks just this trip.
• Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → select the eSIM → App data usage, or Settings → Network & internet → Data usage. Set the billing-cycle reset date to your trip start.

Make your data last

1. 1Use Wi-Fi for the heavy stuff — hotel and café Wi-Fi for backups, updates and streaming saves your mobile allowance for when you’re out.
2. 2Download offline maps before you head out for the day.
3. 3Cap video to SD off Wi-Fi — streaming is the biggest single drain.
4. 4Turn off background app refresh and auto-playing video.
5. 5Watch the meter mid-trip — if you’re over halfway through your data at the halfway point of your trip, ease off or top up early.
